What SEO tools get you ranked at the top of Google?
That’s a question that encompasses an enormous amount of answers. No matter what your position it all starts with unlocking the secrets of finding the right keywords to target.
But how?
7 Tools to Empower Your Keyword Research
There are plenty of answers to that, including using Google’s auto suggest feature. 7 of the most popular keyword research tools that people are found regularly using include:
If your just getting started on your SEO campaign, then I recommend taking a long tail keyword phrase approach.
Here’s how that works.
Let’s say your targeted keyword phrase is: Pizza (Okay, now I’m hungry).
The exact match approach would be to create content around the word “pizza”. The problem is that if you are just getting started your chances of competing for that word are nil to none.
That’s why you need to use long tails which would be something like:
Best Deluxe Raw Pizza Recipe (Hey, I’m a vegan, what do you expect?)
The chances of my being able to rank for the above keyword verse just pizza is much higher. It gets better too.
People that search on the keyword identified above are more likely to be very interested in what I have too share. That’s the stuff that conversions are made from. The above tools do far more than uncover long tails including identifying phrases you haven’t thought of, showing you traffic potential and helping you to build a solid SEO plan forward.
Competing with Your Selected Keyword Phrase Competition
No matter what keywords you target you will have competition. Those are the evil one’s that have more than half a thought to outrank you.
How dare they!
Fortunately, you have powerful tools at your ready to deal with these villains.
Here are 9 top secret spy tools to use against your competition:
- Monitor Backlinks
- SERanking
- SpyFu
- Open Site Explorer
- iSpionage
- Simply Measured
- Compete PRO
- Quant Cast
- SpyOnWeb
Once you have determined the keywords you want to target and fully understand what you’re up against its time for a nap, I mean implementation.
Creating Your SEO Content Marketing Strategy Win
That’s where words come in, not to mention meme’s, infographics, videos, live streaming, podcasts and a host of other content creation resources.
What you don’t want to do at this point is worry about topics like properly formatted meta data, keyword density or placement, and anything else that is designed to push Google into favoring your site in its organic rankings.
Yes, that worked a couple of years back, but not today.
Instead, you want to laser target on real honest to goodness quality content that your readers will love devouring. (I guess I never got my pizza.)
Anyway, the way to do that with words alone would be to create larger pieces of content. 1000 words is good, 1500 words is great and Google goes bananas (food again, I’ve got to stop that) over articles that exceed 2K.
Include images, videos and other types of content within the projects you release and in Google’s eyes you become their golden opportunity.
But wait, you say. Why did I do all that keyword research stuff if Google only wants solid gold content?
Great question.
Google does not forbid you from using such keyword phrases. Just don’t go overboard. In a 1000-word article, I will use the keyword phrase in my title and one maybe two other times in the content.
Beyond Simple Content Creation Simply
Once you have your article positioned it’s time to promote it. No, the street corner with sign idea won’t work out. But here are 5 backlink building tools that will.
However, before you rush out to start link building.
Stop!
Are you aware that one of the best places to start building links from is your own Website or blog?
Those are internal backlinks and they work like gold.
Besides, who better to know your slant on your content for the niche which you have targeted than you?
Therefore, you want to make sure to do your due diligence within your site before finding places to build links from that are external to your properties.
Concluding Thoughts About Empowerment by SEO Tools
We’ve covered a lot of ground in this article and I hope you’ve gleaned some invaluable insight.
However, like the Titanic we’ve only touched the tip of the ice-berg. Fortunately for you, this can mean nothing but net as you soar beyond your competitors.
Yet, I have a question.
What have I left out which you love?
Share your thoughts in the comments below and I, well, I believe that’s a roasted veggie pizza I’m smelling.

Hello there!
I wanted to say thanks so much for all the great tips and for making it so clear and easy (and fun) to read. I had already known about using long tail keywords but what I didn’t know was how important it is to use over 15k words in posts and pages.
I would like to hear more about internal backlinks though. How do you promote your website on your website. Can you explain more?

Sure – I wrote an article about internal backlinking which can be found here: http://viraltnteam.com/internal-tiered-link-wheel-building
BTW – the above link does happen to be an internal backlink. 🙂
