I believe many factors play into this answer not the least of which is what do you define as a tweet. More on this during my own response to this answer.
Before, I provide my thoughts on this matter I’d like to share with you the answers I found in my research. It should be noted that I find myself in disagreement with the conclusions formed by the other people responding to this question, though am also unwilling to consider myself the final authority on the matter.
To that end, I have setup your ability to research the question to its fullest in-order to determine your own best answer for the success of your business online.

ARTICLE: How Often Should You Tweet Per Day?
AUTHOR: Mojca Mars (Twitter)
DATE: March 23, 2015
Mojca takes a systematic approach to this question by starting with clients at a lower frequency and working up the ladder until the best number of tweets are realized. Best is defined as that which elicits the greatest amount of response from one’s audience. There are several factors which I believe could be more thoroughly considered within the response such as the amount of follower’s accounts have, your usage of hash tags within the question and exactly what you mean by the term tweet. While these will be discussed in my answer, I do believe the structured approach that is suggested should be considered which is what makes this article worth the read.

ARTICLE: How Frequently You Should Post on Social Media According to the Pros
AUTHOR: Neil Patel (Twitter)
DATE: SEP 12, 2016
My friend Neil takes an entirely different position on his answer to this question by positioning an excellent answer both from a minimalist viewpoint as well as those who choose to approach Twitter as heavy hitters. He is quick to point out that the more time spent on Twitter, will correspondingly mean less time being able to invest elsewhere. While his point is certainly a sound one, he fails to bring considerations from an outsourcing position to the table which would allow your own individual time frame to remain at a minimum while your account ramps up to hyper drive. None-the-less, this is a great read to review when considering how often you will choose to send out tweets on Twitter.

ARTICLE: How Often to Post on Social Media? [Proven Research From 10 Studies]
AUTHOR: Nathan Ellering (Twitter)
DATE: November 9, 2016
If you’re looking for the middle of the road, Nathan brings it to you in this article by recommending 15 tweets daily. He then explores his aggressive (51) verse minimalistic (1) position and covers why a business might want to consider either option. What I like about his approach to this question is that he also brings many other industry experts to the table for you to review their answers which was a uniquely pleasant twist from the rest of the research that I conducted.

AUTHOR: Sarah Matista (Twitter)

Sarah compares the experience of SocialBakers and Track Social that was originally shared by FastCompany in 2014. Per the graph displayed, which I liked, both companies have opted into a rather minimalistic position. Who knows if that has changed today, but it is interesting to see the results based on the approaches that they took. I do wish that Sarah would have expanded further than she did upon her findings but provide her answer her largely because of the comparison chart that she shared.

ARTICLE: How Many Times Daily Should I Tweet for Business Daily?
AUTHOR: Guy Siverson (That’s Me) – (Twitter)
DATE: March 26, 2017
Before answering how often I would recommend tweeting, I believe it is important to define what a tweet is. Who needs that when everyone knows that 140-characters makeup a tweet?
While that’s true, is a retweet a tweet?
Yes.
Is a poll a tweet?
Yes.
Is a PPC campaign on Twitter a tweet?
Yes.
Tweets come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You might not even think you are tweeting when such is the case.
What’s more, a tweet goes just about as fast as it comes. In fact, for a tweet to stay visible for 15 minutes is quite long in the life of a tweet.
After years of silence with my ViralTNTeam account I came back in swinging at a hefty rate of 80 tweets a day.
The result?
People were unfollowing me in droves.
Was I tweeting to much?
I don’t believe so, though I have backed down to about 50 tweets daily at this point.
While inactivity was part of the problem, the bigger issue involved the type of people that I was following. If you follow someone that only has 1000 followers, you will be filling up their entire tweet stream. If they are paying attention they will unfollow.
However, what if the person you are following has 10K followers?
Or 100K?
Your frequency isn’t going to cause trouble because they have a ton of content going through their Twitter stream.
That said, where do you want to be showing up at?
In accounts that have very few followers or those that are mega?
Even mega doesn’t matter if they aren’t the right people. That’s why you want to target niche audiences rather than just taking a crap shot approach to building your Twitter profile.
I use Twitter search to make this happen as well as many other invaluable tools and resources designed for growing a Twitter audience.
So, exactly how many tweets should you send daily?
It depends on who you are following, what their audiences look like and how badly you want to be seen. Done right I recommend aggressive tweeting by 50 or more tweets daily.
What done right means is the content for yet another article about Twitter. I find some people saying that when you tweet so frequently you lose engagement.
That’s just not true.
If you are tweeting correctly.
Concluding Thoughts on How Many Tweets Should Be Sent Daily
So far, we’ve looked at a variety of answers to the dilemma of tweet frequency.
However, the article talks about 5 different strategies and only 4 have been shared.
What gives?
That’s where you come into the picture.
What do you think about how many times daily a person should tweet? What has your experience been?
Please share your thoughts in the comments below and let’s help each other discover what the optimal number of tweets to be shared daily should be.
