YouTube.
It has been around for a long time now. I remember when Google actually didn’t own YouTube.
Why do you think they bought it?
Simple.
Videos work and they are excellent for your local small business.
Here are 7 reasons why.
#1: YouTube Power
Do you know what the largest search engine on the Internet is?
If you didn’t answer with Google then it is time for you to take a break. It’s a given.
Do you know what the 2nd largest search engine on the Internet is?
I’ve heard people answer with things like Bing and Yahoo. Their wrong.
Be smart. Think YouTube.
Yes, YouTube is a search engine though it is not commonly thought of in that regard.
So when you market with YouTube videos you are getting the best of the largest 2 search engines on the Internet.
A: Google
B: YouTube
#2: Google Results
Let’s talk about those Google results for a minute.
Let’s see, the page starts with PPC (Pay Per Click) ads.
Another big piece of local search results are the 10 organic listings.
Google Maps use to be a huge piece of the search results but today it displays only what Google has come to term the snack pack. It is a listing of the top 3 results in Google Maps.
None of these elements have many graphics.
Then there is your video sitting in the organic listings. Even if it is in position 10 guess what the chances of it getting clicked is as compared to the other listings?
If you said huge, then you get an A+ for being smart. It is a multi-media image and people watch videos.
#3: Backlinks
If you put a hyperlink or two in your description that leads back to your site that is considered a backlink. Guess what, Google likes backlinks, especially the right ones.
How do you know if you are creating a “right” backlink in the eyes of Google?
While that could be a huge article in and of its own I have one word and one word only for you here.
YouTube.
We already established that Google owns YouTube. Google also has a great fondness for Google so guess what they think of YouTube.
This isn’t rocket science.
Having links coming from YouTube to your Web property is a really REALLY good idea.
#4: The Numbers
Viewing videos from the Internet has been on the rise for many years.
That’s no secret.
They have seen a 35% increase from the Internet and mobile video viewing is up 20% according to the Social Media Examiner. It should be noted that their article was from 2011.
Let me ask you a question.
Do you personally think video viewing has gone up or down since then?
The numbers don’t lie.
#5: Thumbnails
With a textual organic listing you simply have to write the best text on a sea of text result.
With YouTube videos you can drive even more attention by creating a high class thumbnail image that is considered the feature image for your video.
This is huge.
It gives you the ability to really capture your audience within a single image.
#6: Brandability
Within the viewing of the video you can brand yourself both on the thumbnail and within the video play.
A typical listing simply leads back to your Website.
You have the upper edge when you use YouTube video marketing strategies.
This works both on the YouTube search results and on Google.
Don’t forget – we are targeting for 2 properties rather than just one.
#7: Social Media
Now that you have your video in place it is time to increase its exposure.
What?
It’s not enough to be on Google & YouTube?
That is essential without question.
But it is not enough.
By increasing your audience using social media properties like:
And, oh yeah, don’t forget Google.
You have the ability to build a social footprint from those sites which Google loves while reaching an even larger audience.
So the question should actually not be why should I market with YouTube videos but rather why shouldn’t you. If you’re small business needs more clients it simply does not make sense to avoid YouTube in any way, shape or form.
But wait.
You’re a Dentist/Lawyer/Carpenter (insert your niche) not a Videographer. Your time is so booked with what you do that you don’t have time to create videos let along learn how to do them the right way.
What do you do?
Easy.
