Become an Amazon Associate (fancy way of saying Affiliate Marketer).
Are you kidding me?
They only pay 4% for products sold, at least when starting out. Once I’ve broken in with them the best that will ever happen is that I receive 8% of the earnings.
So why in the world would I?
Become an Amazon Associate
Good question, to which I have an equally good answer if you will hang with me for just a few minutes.
Amazon started on July 5th, of 1994. Hey, that’s my birthday! Shouldn’t that be reason enough?
Alas I digress, let’s get back to it.
When they started, it was like anyone else out here on the Web.
No one knew their name.
Today, things have changed.
Amazon Transforms the World
Most anyone who spends time on the Web today knows the name Amazon.
Even more, it is a trusted brand.
One that people respect.
While it is true that percentages can be higher with XYZ product they lack, what Amazon delivers in style.
They lack brand awareness.
Even if you choose a fantastically popular product for your niche it remains that Amazon likely has a stronger share of the market awareness than they do.
No Sinking Ships Here
I am not suggesting that your XYZ product doesn’t have its place.
In fact, you could do full review articles on it and drive massive buying traffic that is ready to purchase.
Affiliate Marketer’s do it all the time and so should you.
What I am suggestion is a strategy wherein you can take what is good and make it great.
Let’s say you are in the market for a new car. What is one of the first things you are likely to do with such a position?
Wouldn’t the answer be, ask your friends, neighbors and family how they like their car? Surf on the Web for the best cars within your price bracket?
In-other-words, you begin with research.
Moving Beyond Beginnings
When your research repeatedly turns up a specific car as your best option what happens?
For one it gets added to your mental and or written top 10 (top 5…. top 3) list.
You then visit the associated dealership and find yourself hooked.
What happened throughout the process? You based your buying decision on brand awareness and popularity.
So, if people know, love and trust Amazon.
NOTE: Every company is going to have their “nay sayers”, but I mean in general.
And you put an Amazon ad on your site (I recommend their “native shopping ads” program. More about this in a minute.
What is going to happen to the perceived authority of your non-Amazon XYZ affiliate product by following this method on your way to become Affiliate Marketer success?
Ridding on Popularities Back
Even though your product has nothing to do with Amazon it shares the popularity thereof.
Especially, if the content (article, video, podcast) that you are sharing is of high quality.
Your audience reads and likes the article.
Your audience knows and trusts Amazon.
Your audience is now primed for making the recommended purchase because of how you treated, your audience.
What Are Native Shopping Ads
I think these are cool.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get the latest quality Amazon products in front of your audience without having to spend your own valuable time to search them out?
To get started with the process login to your Amazon Associates account, select product linking and choose the option that reads “native shopping ads”.
Select the orange button that reads “create ad unit”.
You will find 3 options that present themselves.
- Recommendation Ads
- Search Ads
- Custom Ads
For our purposes, we will select “recommendation ads”
On the new page that appears there are several settings to consider. First, and foremost you need to select your ad name – duh!
Choose the categories you want to emphasize within your advertisement. If there aren’t any, then just leave that part blank.
Enter related keywords. This is required. You don’t want to sell bikini tops on a cooking Website.
Or, on second thought, maybe you do.
But the point remains the same.
That’s really all that is necessary. There are a couple of other options available, but overall, your good.
Click the orange button which reads “save and view ad code”.
Paste the code into your site in whatever way that you are wanting.
What’s the Point?
We just walked through the basic process of adding any ad type concept into your Website.
There wasn’t anything special so why would I recommend “native shopping ads” over and above any other code script?
It isn’t in the setup where the secret sauce lies, but rather in the viewability.
Are you wanting to display a banner across the entire top of your Website?
Would you prefer it to be a sidebar option that only covers a portion of your page?
Putting this code into place, both will be accomplished simultaneously. You are not left trying to figure out which sizing would be best for your purposes. It’s done for you.
That in and of itself makes things much more convenient.
But wait, there’s more.
Mobile media is huge today when offering an online marketing service or product type business to your viewers. You want to appeal to this audience. However, people are also using laptops and desktops even today. You want to appeal to this audience too.
Using these native ads from Amazon, it doesn’t matter what device someone is searching from. The user experience of your audience will be the same no matter the device.
One of high professionalism which builds your own value and trustability in their eyes.
And I’m not done.
Because of the technology in this coding as compared to others, your audience always finds highly relevant results which matter to them. They are practically pre-sold on buying because of the intelligence of “native shopping ads” from Amazon.
Concluding Thoughts About Native Shopping Ads
The more you can do to deliver the right message, to the right audience at the right time.
The more you win.
You win in sales.
You win in customer loyalty.
You win in niche authority.
You simply win.
People like hanging around winners. Don’t break it to the spiders but you want people hanging around your Website. The best way to make that happen is to position yourself as a winner and let the synergy of excitement take care of the rest.
But now it’s your turn.
I’ve shared why I like Amazon, especially as it relates to “native shopping ads”.
Why do you like Amazon as an Affiliate Marketer?
And, if you don’t, why not?
Share your story in the comments below. I’m interested.
Thanks in advance.
