Are you familiar with Google PPC?
Google has been preparing to bring this concept to maps in the form of Home Services Ads (HSA’s) sometime in the future. I first heard about HSA’s back in August of 2015.
At this point, the program remains in beta. However, when it comes to Google things can and do change almost overnight.
For example, now it looks like this HSA initiative will affect service area businesses (SAB’s) only. However, should this program move out of beta and into full momentum, I wouldn’t think it would be long till this change affects all maps listings. [Read more…]
Local businesses can achieve rankings on Google in two ways.
One is organically.
These results are the last to display within a Google search page. Before these come what Google terms as the snack pack which is the top 3 results of the Google Maps listings.
These spots are highly favored by many local businesses because of where they are located at within the corresponding Google search page.
As a local business owner, you provide the same service to multiple cities. Doesn’t it make more sense to have a generic page that specific service?
Actually no, but there are strings attached.
The more tailored communication you are able to provide for each city the greater the possibility that Google will opt into ranking you highly for the service in that city.
However, if the pages between the two cities have the same basic content this will work against you because Google will see what you are creating duplicate content.
