Naming Pictures For SEO

Naming Pictures For SEO

Many people optimize both videos and graphics incorrectly when they are naming pictures for SEO.  This section goes into the details of how to correctly optimize your multi-media so that the search engines rank these entities high as well as consider them of great value as it relates to backlinking strategies.

7 Steps In Naming Pictures For SEO

STEP 1 – Identification

Determine keyword to target for your location

Veterinarian

Note:  I chose a single word for this example to more clearly demonstrate the process in step 2.

STEP 2 – Naming

If your keyword location is not identified above make sure that it is now and followed by cite, state & zip code in that order.  This information MUST be exactly the same as what is listed on Google Places for it to count.

STEP 3 – File

Now we apply this name to the image adding hyphens with the end result of a locally optimized multimedia piece to market out to the web and upload the new image accordingly.

NOTE:  While YouTube certainly is the single best place to upload videos because it is owned by Google for graphics I would recommend Pinterest or Panoramio which is also owned by Google.

STEP 4 – Title

With the item uploaded we can then begin the on-page optimization of that piece at the location where it has been added to the Web starting with the title which would include keyword, city, state abbreviation and phone number.

Veterinarian Riverside CA – (951) 968-4798

NOTE:  Making your phone number extremely convenient for your audience increases the frequency of your phone ringing with new potential of clients and customers.

STEP 5 – Description

There are several parts to the description section including URL, keyword, description and citation.  Each of these are extremely important to achieve the best results of an optimized multi-media item.

URL

This is entered first to make it easier for viewers to click and visit accordingly and amounts to a clickable link leading from the photo or video and directing people to your main project.

Keyword

Information in title is identified here again to make sure that your client understands exactly how to get in contact with you as well as adding to the optimization value of the piece.  So that you’re not repeating the exact title I recommend not using the abbreviated version of the state at this entry point.

Veterinarian Riverside California – (951) 968-4798

Description

Following the above information the description should contain 150-300 niche targeted words weaving in related terms whenever possible.

Enter description of 150-300 words

Citation

While all areas within this section are important the citation is some ways is of ultimate importance because it is viewed as a backlink to your main property and needs to be exactly the same as what is identified on your Website, Google Pages and anywhere else where you are leaving contact information.  If this is not provided exactly the same in all instances it can actually cause your entire project to lose rankings altogether.

  1. Name
  2. Address
  3. Phone Number

The end result would look like this.

Riverside Cat Hospital
11411 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92505
(951) 968-4798

NOTE:  The above information MUST be reflected on all pages of your site and should be available both in the header and footer of the project.

 STEP 6 – Keywords

After the description there is typically a section for keywords which are sometimes referred to as tags.  Making sure your identified keyword is within this space is highly advisable.  Using related keywords can further enhance the results from here.

Main

Veterinarian

Secondary

Veterinarian Riverside

Riverside Veterinarian

STEP 7 – GeoTargeting

Once you have completed the posting of your item for proper ranking of a locally focused piece of multi-media it is important to GeoTarget where you have posted the information from.  This is handled differently on different platforms but amounts to telling the viewer where you are posting the item from.

  1. Select the option for GeoTargeting which can sometimes be referred to as mapping.
  2. Enter in information requested which may include name of company, address and phone number depending on what is being requested from the specific platform you are using.
  3. MAKE SURE the details entered in this section exactly match those that you are using within your other Web properties.

Concluding Thoughts Of Naming Pictures For SEO

Some may believe that this article doesn’t deal directly with the idea of naming pictures as the focus has been getting them prepared for Google Places.  However, while focusing on the requirements for Google Places the end result is that you have indeed been naming pictures for SEO purposes.

“Guy's professionalism towards SEO is unmatched. Providing realistic expectations in a proper time frame and budget. Guy is a wealth of knowledge and is certainly a top expert within not only local SEO but everything SEO. I look forward to working with Guy for many years to come.”
    Sam

“My website had no hits, now its booming, We started getting lots of calls, Excellent Job, Thank You !!!"
    Alex

“Guy is one of the most passionate SEO professionals out there. SEO isn't just his job, it's his vocation. He also focuses on the most current form of SEO in my opinion and that is Local SEO. I threw a very tough project at Guy with a very short timeline to rank. Given the circumstances, Guy did everything possible to rank the project in the shortest time possible. His word is worth its weight in gold. In the SEO industry which can be very shady, this is incredibly important. Especially when not dealing face to face with an individual. Guy is extremely available and very personable. His ability to adapt his vast knowledge of Local SEO to develop a strategy particular to my project puts him over the top.”
    Nathan

“I went searching for an SEO person. I did not want to be thrown in a template or into a company that mass-produces their SEO work. I wanted an independent professional that would work with me personally. I got that in Guy. He followed up his initial email with a personal professional phone call. He laid out a smart strategic game plan and quickly gave my website a strong foundation coordinating my google accounts, video, keywords, and blog. My website foundation is rock solid. I would highly recommend Guy as a powerful resource for your SEO work.”
    Ed

“When I started working with Guy, I had a Google Maps listing that was languishing. I really wanted to get my listing to show up on page 1 in Google Maps. That’s when I had the good fortune of coming across Guy — not only is he responsive, communicative, and involved, but he knows what he’s doing. Within a month or so, Guy had conjured up his online magic tricks and got us into position 3 on Google Maps, landing us squarely on page 1. I’m just thrilled with the results that Guy was able to achieve — and let’s be honest, we hire folks like Guy to get us results. And Guy delivers. Can’t recommend him enough.”
