Following are 5 ways to increase search engine optimization results in 2016 that you might have missed.
Here they are:
- Enticing Article Titles
- Easy Reading Level
- Internal Link Building
- Embed YouTube Videos
- Keyword Focused Comments
NOTE: Here are other on-page optimization factors to consider within your search engine optimization strategies.
Let’s explore each deeper.
Enticing Article Titles
The title of the article is the very first place where you either catch or lose your audience. Given that your title needs to stand up against a variety of other titles on the search engines it makes sense to give this part of your work extra attention.
Here are 4 resources to check out as it relates to building power blog titles. I checked each and they all seem cool in their own way. I’m particularly interested in using the one from HubSpot but you decide which one is your favorite.

Easy Reading Level
Keep it simple and easy to follow to attract the most viewers and keep them. One thing I need to keep in mind is that not everyone is familiar with search engine marketing terms. The more I keep this in mind the better the results will be in my traffic volume. Bottom line – cut the jargon and talk in the language of the people.
The recommendation is to keep it at about a 9th grade level of writing. If your using WordPress part of what Yoast does is tell you the reading level of your post. This is very important to keep in mind as you create your on-page content.
Internal Link Building
A moment ago I suggested using WordPress and I do recommend it highly. The advantage of WordPress is that you can have different widgets in the side panel which reviews items like “latest post” which brings the keywords onto that page.
This is actually both good and bad at the same time.
It is good because it builds internal links. It is bad because those links aren’t actually part of the page content.
I certainly recommend using WordPress in this way but then also including links directly within the content is highly encouraged.
YouTube Videos
Why am I talking about YouTube? Weren’t we speaking of your WordPress blog or Website?
Yes, but as you build your Website out if you take a moment to find good YouTube videos to include the end result will be that you increase the time on site that a visitor spends as they watch that video on your Website.
Even further, why not be the one to create that video and share it on your Website once published on your YouTube channel?
Keyword Focused Comments
To tell the truth here. I have largely avoided comments because of all the comment spam out there. However, this is a point I may need to reconsider. Especially if I set comments to be moderated before being posted. In this way I can be sure that keywords are dropped into my comments for best results.
Another point about comments is that when good one’s are left you should consider replying to them and in your reply leave targeted keywords. Don’t be overly spammy in this process but rather keep it natural so that you will get the best results from the search engines especially as it relates to Google.
